Description

The term Industry 4.0 is associated with the so-called fourth industrial revolution. This revolution poses the definition of a virtual world, one in which information and communications technology and the physical world of machines have become the same. The perfect synchronisation of the real and the virtual world will open up new possibilities for industry. The continuous exchange of real-time data allows for a much higher level of intelligence and greater individualised automation. In this manner, due to the interconnectivity of technological solutions for data gathering, it is possible to define automation solutions that integrate self-configuration, self-diagnosis and self-optimisation capabilities, by capturing and monitoring the status of machinery located anywhere in the world.

The main tasks and role of the proposed dissertation are: (1) Development of monitoring systems and prognosis of mechatronic production means for their application in industry 4.0 environments. (2) Identify possible anomalies and malfunctions in the system, by integrating different sources of information that are available through the development of advanced signal processing algorithms.

Requeriments

Required Degree: Industrial Engineering, Automation and Industrial Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Degree in Physics, Degree in Mathematics.

Any knowledge of physical system modelling tools, such as Dymola or Matlab/Simulink will be an advantage. Any knowledge of signal processing in a Matlab environment will be an advantage. Any prior experience in the use of signal acquisition systems (Brüel & Kjaer, National Instrument, Oros, etc.) will be an advantage.

Languages: Oral and written fluency in the English language. Knowledge of the Basque language, and other languages such as German or French, will be an advantage.

Autonomy, creativity, communication skills. Ability to build relationships and work in a team. Proactivity, responsibility and commitment, while facing challenging situations.
